How to choose nozzles for fiber laser cutter?
There are 5 different types of nozzles for fiber laser metal cutter. They have different shapes and functions. They have evolved over the years, this article is written in 2026 and relevant for now.
1. Single Nozzles (S)
Features a conical inner wall and utilizes high-pressure gas for slag removal, ensuring a high volume of gas-liquid flow.
Applications: Air/ Nitrogen cutting of materials such as stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum plates, etc.

2. Double Nozzles (D)
Double-layer composite construction: built upon a single-layer base, with the addition of an inner core.
Application: Oxygen cutting; double-layer versions with a thickness of 2.0 mm or greater are used for cutting carbon steel with a sanded surface finish.

3. High Speed Double Nozzle (DE)
The nozzle features a pointed profile, and its triangular inner core is smaller than that of standard dual-layer nozzles.
Application: Oxygen cutting; primarily used for high-power, mirror-finish cutting of medium-to-thick plates.

4. High Speed Single Nozzle (SP-S)
The nozzle features a pointed exterior profile and a conical inner wall with a small step.
Application: Primarily used for high-power bright-surface cutting, and can also be utilized for rapid cutting with negative focus.

5. Boost Nozzle (B)
Modified from a single-layer nozzle design, featuring a stepped profile at the nozzle tip.
Application: Air/Nitrogen cutting; suitable for high-power, low-pressure cutting of stainless steel.

Hytek Tools provides each machine with several nozzles to test your material with. Typically over 100 different types and sizes.
